Saturday was a long day. I went to an open call for the New York Musical Theater Festival (www.nymf.org). Because there were so many shows that were looking at talent, there was a huge turnout and a change in the traditional audition format. I was number 104 of the nearly 130 people who showed up hoping to be seen. Generally, you audition for one to three people at a table. Instead, there were what appeared to be 23 people on risers along three walls in the room -- kind of like an intimate black box theater with bad lighting. I sang 16 bars each of two songs -- one legit, one pop-rock -- and hoped for the best. I met some nice people though. Its such an odd life!
