Tony Perry's excellent adventure
Saturday, February 23, 2002:
This just in: A buddy of mine did a Google search under my name and found this review at www.christmasreviews.com:
This is a record that defies ordinary ideas about boundaries, crossing over from folk to rock and back again. Throughout the work is a pop Christian sensibility that sets this record apart from most commercial artist releases. Tony Perry wrote five songs on this release, including contemporary Christian rock anthem We Don't Talk About the Baby.
Interestingly, I was even more impressed with Perry's interpretations of the three traditional carols he chose to include: a soft, folksy Away in a Manger, a toe-tapping God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen, and a simple rendering of the Federally-mandated Silent Night.
This record arrived on my doorstep unexpected and unannounced, after the fashion of the most wondrous gifts of the Christmas season.
Kinda cool....
