Tony Perry's excellent adventure

Sunday, December 02, 2001:

Had a great show at ABC last night. everyone was on their game, and in spite of Glen's illness, he played like, well, like wow.

Fly magazine came out today and there's a story about us. it goes like this:

Tony Perry 3, sometimes two, four, or five, is sweeping the region with their melodic pop rock. Local music veterans Tony Perry (acoustic guitar, vocals) and Glen Smith (guitar, vocals) put two (and 3) together and founded Tony Perry 3 over six years ago. And what originally began as an acoustic duo, "over the years has mutated into something bigger," says Perry with certainty.

Joining the two in the band's entirety are Kevin Brennan on guitar and vocals, Brent Fallows on bass, Mike Hillegas Jr. on drums, and Ross Fackler, also on drums. The band's music influences - U2, country, roots, and blues - merge together into alternative, gospel, classical soul, and folk elements to produce, if nothing else, an "interesting" sound. The Harrisburg-based group's latest CD, On The Innocent Side, is Perry's pride and joy. Look for his solo project, Tony Perry Christmas, released last month, in retail outlets and at live gigs. Perry, a classically trained vocalist, will also be appearing in the MiShar Productions Capitol Dinner Theatre show "Home for the Holidays," running through December 22.

During the band's live shows, "We have a lot of fun, and I think that tends to translate," says Perry . "... Weirdly enough, we'll try anything in front of people. It's not that unusual for someone to request a song, and if we don't know it, we'll try to figure it out ..." They've played the East Coast and would like to organize regional touring into a "more coordinated effort." For additional band information, visit www.tonyperry3.com.
